Billy found himself, face down, on the wet moss. Maurice was tugging at his arm. Billy noted this as he sat dazedly up. He and Maurice were alone; old Harry had vanished. Billy puckered up his lips, but his effort was a failure. He was tryin' to save some horses from a burnin' stable. A blazin' beam fell across his face; his eyes they—" Keeler's voice grew husky. Billy grinned sheepishly. "We should'a killed 'em, I s'pose," he said, "but we took 'em down to the marsh an' turned 'em loose there.
